Afternoon Entertainment

While mom makes dinner, the chickens entertain the babies at the back window.

Then mom realizes the chickens are crying at the back window because they are thirsty and out of water and it is 114 degrees outside and so she takes pity on them and gives them some cool water.

Seriously, I can't believe those chickens have survived. I told Jeremy the other night that I never knew I would enjoy being a chicken farmer so much... And then I remembered that I have never even touched them, even when they were small, cute chicks. He is the real chicken farmer!

Another First Day of School

Kenyon started his final year of preschool this week. He is going 3 mornings a week with some of his good friends. Those poor teachers with these wild boys together! He was super mad at me for making him wear jeans and a collared shirt. When he got home he said, "Mom, will you just throw these jeans away next time?" I guess he will go back to wearing basketball shorts and a tee shirt everyday!

The Hike

Beyond my parents' backyard is the golf course and then a mountain. The kids have been wanting to hike "Grandpa's Mountain" for a while. Jer took Maya and Kenyon up the other night. I was super impressed with how far they went.

Then when they returned, Kenyon had had an encounter with a cactus:

When asked if it hurt, he said, "Not that bad." He is one tough kid!

First Day of School

When I went into her room to wake her up, she was looking at her legs. When I asked her what was up, she said, "I am growing hair on my legs like Dad." I can't think of a better start to 1st grade :).

Sure gonna miss that girl!

Coming to an end...

Summer is coming to an end. Back to school on Wednesday and then maybe this blog will no longer be neglected. It has been a good summer full of swimming, going to movies, hanging out with friends, and enjoying this scorching heat. We are very ready to get back on a schedule and for mom to have some downtime while the "big kids" are at school.

Here are some recent pics.

One HOT night we cooled off by making homemade ice cream in ziploc bags. It tasted okay, but the fun was had in shaking up the bags.

My niece Chelsey was visiting AZ from UT and we had so much fun with her.

Kenyon and his friend Brigg - they look cute and innocent, but these two are NAUGHTY together. They are pirates and are always coming up with ways to make their big sisters scream. Good luck to their preschool teacher! :)

If you have ever swam with Kenyon, you know he looks like he is drowning, although he is an independent swimmer. My friend captured this so well in this picture!

Free Krispy Kreme donuts on Mom's Birthday

Owen has super ticklish feet and Dad can always get him to laugh hard by rubbing them on his scruffy face.

Pulled out the Johnny Jumper today and he loved it!

We were very lucky this week to be able to see both of our foster kids that were with us last summer. We met up with D and his grandma at McDonalds one day. The kids had a blast playing and catching up. Then baby J (who is no longer a baby!) came over for a playdate today. She still remembers us and has such a good time when she comes over. The best part about seeing both of them is that they are both being adopted and we are 100% confident they are right where they are supposed to be. It brings such peace to see how it all fell into place and that we were just a little stop for both of them. And of course, we love that we still get to be involved in their lives.
